The age of this cemetery is enough to host some paranormal events, add the violent history of the area caused by the greed of a gold rush and the wild west attitudes of the day and it's not surprising that many of the residents of the graveyard still walk the grounds searching for something.
History
Idaho City sprang up about 1862 as a Gold Rush town, and at one point was the largest town in the territory. The cemetery was established about 1863. Many of the graves in this cemetery are unmarked. A previous survey platted the area and placed 'Unknown' markers on many of the unidentifiable graves. The sign says it is estimated there are 3,000 burials here, with only about 350 identifiable.
